Three - In a syllable, tone is a meaning distinguishing element just like other letters. It distinguish a word from another. For example, là.with the tone huyền means "to iron", whereas lá with the tone sắc means "a leaf". Ba with the tone ngang means "father", whereas "bà" (with the tone huyền) means "grandmother". 参 - 在一個音節當中，聲調正如同其他的字母，也是一種區別意思的要素，聲調能讓一個字和其他的字有所區別。例如：là 的聲調符號是huyền，là 的意思是"熨燙"；反之、lá 的聲調符號是sắc，而 lá 的意思卻是"葉子"。Ba 的聲調符號是ngang，Ba 的意思是"父親"；反之、"bà" (其聲調符號是huyền)的意思卻是"祖母"。
Two - Final consonants are pronounced differently in English and in Vietnamese. In English, a final consonant has the "back" period, whereas Vietnamese final consonants do not have. Let's compare the two syllables: "set" (English) and "sét" in Vietnamese. 貳 - 在英文和越文裡，結尾子音被發音的方式不同。在英文中，結尾子音會有一個 "back" 的時間，而越文的結尾子音並沒有。讓我們來比較這兩個音節，英文的 "set".和越文的 "sét"。
One - Why are there two letters like "ph", "th", "tr" etc.? Answer:they are two letters, but they represent only one sound. "ph" represents the sound /f/ (like in "phải" ) "th" is the voiceless, aspirated, dental stop sound /../ ( like in "thế" ) . 壹 - 為什麼會有兩個字母？例如 "ph", "th", "tr" 等等？ 答案：它們雖然是兩個字母，卻只表示一種聲音。 "ph" 代表聲音 /f/ (例如 "phải" )；"th" 是一種無聲的、伴有h氣音的在齒間停頓的聲音 /../ (例如 "thế" )。
[ia] and [iê] are two ways of writting one same diphthong. [ia] is used when the syllable has no final sound, whereas [iê] requires a final sound. For example: mia is correct (no final sound), but miê is wrong. However, miệt with a fonal consoant [t] is correct. It is similar to the two other diphthongs. [ia]和[iê]是一個相同的複合母音但是兩種不同的書寫方式，[ia]被使用於當一個音節沒有尾音的時候，而[iê]則需要一個結束的尾音。例如：mia是正確的(沒有尾音)，而miê則是錯的；但是、miệt有一個結束的子音 t 就是對的。它們是兩個相似而略有不同的複合母音。
